1999 Explorer going down the road and I think a transmission line blew out? the engine stopped running and it will not start now. Cranks over but will not run. Is there some kind of fluid sensor that would prevent the engine from starting? There is fluid all over the right front suspension. any ideas?

first thing to do is tofind out what kind of fluid it is. It could be motor oil, coolant, or trans fluid.a quick loss fo fluid like that from the trans shouldn't stop the engine from running, but fuel leak or oil leak would. Or a loss of oil pressure would as well as it would shut off the fuel pump. so do your basics, check for fuel pressure and spark as it may be a coincidence.
