99 ford explorer 4x4 when I step on the gas hard in slipery conditions I get a grinding noise the same noise if I hit the braeks only hapins on snow coverd or icey roed not dry

This may be your traction control engaging. When it detects wheel spin it'll apply the brakes. But you shouldn't hear grinding noises when you hit the brakes. If you do, the rotors/pads are worn. Have them checked.
