1999 Ford Escort idles rough

When started up it idles rough. After running a while it starts to buck and carry on. I have changed the fuel pump, plugs and wires, and crankshaft position sensor 3 times. Im running out of options and cant afford to take it to a mechanic. Last time I started it up I smelled gas also.

The first thing I would do is a compression test. Make sure all cylinders are around 125-130 lbs.
