clunking or clicking noise when turning wheel

i hear a clunking or clicking noise when turning the wheel i removed wheels started the engine put it in drive turned the steering wheel heard noise seen no movement at drive shafts but seen motor movement would the motor movement put strain on drive shafts to cause clunking noise front motor mount rubber wore out

Yes, bad motor mounts can result in abnormal noises as the engine can shift when load is applied to the drive trains.

However clunking noises could be from the ball joints ans worn arm bushes. Have those checked as well.
