99 Chrysler Concorde, 6 cyl, 150,000 miles. Everytime I make a left turn, straighten out, then touch the brakes I get a loud thunk sound from under the car. I've raised the car up and looked at as well as shook every suspension part I can see and nothing seems loose. It almost sounds like someone hitting the bottom of the car with a rubber mallot. Any ideas?

Reach over the top of the front tires and wrap your fingertips around the top coils of the coil springs, then have a helper turn the steering wheel. The springs should turn freely, but if the upper strut mounts are binding you'll feel the spring wind up then pop free. That will make a loud thumping sound.

Thanks, I'll try that. It sounds like it would make the kind of sound I'm hearing.
