My car was making a ticking noise, so I checked the oil. The dipstick didn't have anything on it. I put 2 quarts of oil in it went over just a little. I crank it up

its still making the noise. I put mystery oil still noisy. Took it to a mechanic, he put a timing chain on it, still noisy. He checked to see if oil had rod residue, it was ok. He told me the noise sounds like its behind the timing chain. The noise gets worse as the car warms up. Can you help me pin point this noise for a 99 4 wheel drive trailblazer?

there is a balance shaft gear behind the timing chain and it migh tbe damaged or the bearing in the front of the shaft. without hearing it it's hard to say, it could aslo be a lifter making noise, like a light tapping sound. Also if you have a bottom end problem like a rod or main bearing you r oil pressure would be low like less than 10psi at idle when warm. But that wold be more of aknock. you could also have a loose rocker arm as well
