How do you know if your fan clutch is bad

When the engine is cold should spin with little resistance, when hot it has more resistance to spin

My fan clutch is very hard to spin can I use WD40 to losen it

What made you think it was bad? My brothers was bad and made lots of noise. He oiled it quieted and does that about once a week. He has a rare car so not easy to find replacement.

You mean when car is off and cold? How did you happen to notice this? Was it causing a problem?

Because it did this about a two months ago my friend said its the fan clutch so I went and got a new one and then out of no were it started funing good agine real good So I didnt think it needed that so I took it back and got my money back And now its doing it agin
