1998 Volvo V70 transmission noise

In the last week or so my automatic transmission will make a tapping sound almost like something is slapping the bottom of floor pan when it is warm, in drive, and stopped. If I shift into park or neutral it stops making it. It is only at when I am, stopped like at a light or something similar. I checked the fluid, everything is normal. It hasn't been flushed since I got it, but I have only put 20K on it or less, so I was hoping it just needs a flush. But I was scared that might aggravate it? Or if its not it, that it'll be just money out the window.
It will now occasionally slip on a hill, but it is other wise running ok. I want to get on it before it gets worse.
It almost sounded like the noise a trans makes if you put it in park before it stopped moving ( don't worry.I don't do this, but have heard it on another car before).

Are you sure nothing is loose or you have a bad or weak trans or engine mount? Is it possible that the exhaust is touching the floor when in drive?

If the trans is already slipping, that isn't good. Is the present fluid clean and full? If it is very dirty and burnt, servicing the transmission could make it slip worse.

Let me know.

Fluid is clean and full. Do t think it is exhaust related S it stops as soon I switch to neutral and it doesn't do it. Cold. Also not slipping so much as winding really far up before shifting

The shifting issue could be a few things, shift solenoid, governor. None of which would cause a noise. Is the check engine light on?

The lambda light is on, occassionally service engine will stay on for a couple minutes, but runs a little rough cold, thought that might be O2 sensor ( in combo with lambda), runs better after some fuel injection cleaner.

Have the computer scanned to see if there are any trouble codes related to the transmission.
