Does your radiator cooling fan come on the tempo reads just coast half way?Sounds like you have a bad radiator cap or the radiator fan is inop of you have a bad coolant temp sensor.

If it only overheats when sitting still, the cooling fans are not turning on to cool the engine. Once you are moving, air flows through the radiator to cool the engine. When stopped, so is the air flow. Thus, the fans have to turn on. See if you notice that they are not turning on and let me know what you find.

When the car is moving more air flows thru the radiator and the coolant temp and pressure in the cooling is lower. If you have a weak radiator it will do the same thing boil over the cap when its not moving. Have seen it many times on these cars.I am already answering this question on a another question they asked Also listed other possibilities. One clue is the coolant will boil over the cap if the temp gauge only reads just most half way on the temp gauge. So sounds like a bad radiator cap or bad cool temp sensor since it reads for the gauge and the computer to turn the fan on.

Meant to say the coolant will not boil over the cap at the half way mark on the gauge. So at the very least you have a bad cap.
