The Cloyes is about the same price as the SA at Advance Auto. So if I was going to go that route I guess I would go to Advance. I am on disability so price is a definate issue. Like I said this is the car I keep around because of the gas milage. My primary car is a Ford Expedition. It sucks the gas. I probably will just drive the Saturn till it dies. It has some other issues with the age Of the car. I use factory parts a lot. So it is not like I hate factory parts. It is just the circumstances. So I guess I will figure this one out. Right now I am leaning towards PCI. It is not the cheapest but is reasonable. So let me just ask you if you have ever heard of PCI and leave it at that. Thanks again. Joe.

I would go with that pci set on ebay I just order that set for my buddy has a 1997 saturn SL2 and it needs a timing chain set and iam going to put one of those in his car. Here is the product description I found on ebay for that product line.

This kit is assembled by Preferred Components, using components that meet or exceed OEM specifications. PCI specializes in supplying OHC timing sets & components for the "professional installer". PCI is an importer and supplier of high quality timing system products manufactured by both OEM and aftermarket manufacturers that have OEM business and understand quality standards

Imagine that, I am contacting you already. Have a delay in fixing. Have to sign up for a PayPal account. Have 1 question for you. I was going through the different timing chain kits on Ebay and noticed that there were a different number of links on the chains with the different brands of chains. It seems like the number of teeth on the cam and crank gears were the same with all makers of the kits. I don't get how the numbers of links can be different but does it matter the number of links or not and can you explain. Thanks once again. Joe.

That's strange your right different brands different link number's from 92 links to 144 link's.I did some research and found what looks like the dual cam use's a 126 link chain and the single cam uses a 92 link chain. Go to rockauto. Com I order a lot of parts from there and there parts fit well. Click your car on the catalog select engine then click the timing chain tab it will show you the chains and it will tell you the two chains they sell are 126 links. So I would go with the pci set which is a 126 links that is the set I bought I just looked at another listing on ebay that was pci and it said 126 links. Here is the link to the one I ordered.

Hey I ordered that timing chain that you got. Was wondering if you got yours. I actually got the last one. Did everything go ok with the purchase? If you got it is it pretty good? Just wondering. First thing I purchased on Ebay. Little nervous. Get back to you if I run into any problems while changing it. Thanks.

I have not gotten mine yet they mailed it out mon it's coming from washington so it should only take me a couple of days to get. As far as getting stuff from ebay I wouldn't worry about it your purchases are all protected thru them.I have bought a lot of things from ebay over the years and I have only had one problem with a purchase just recently and ebay made it right and gave me a full refund since the seller wouldn't. Always look at the sellers feedback before you buy from them.I will let you know when I get it and what I think of it.

Got mine too. I think it looks good too. Some of the other ones that were more expensive had square holes on the camshaft sprockets. Definately let me know how it goes. I was under the weather for a few days so I didn't get the chance to do it yet. Plan on doing it this weekend. Will let you know if I have any problems. Let me know if you have any problems with the kit so I can avoid them. Thanks again. Talk at you later. Joe.

Sorry I have been meaning to tell you how it went but I have been busy and my computer is a piece of crap and has been giving me trouble lately. Put the kit in mon night it fit good except the guide with one bolt that goes against the tenisor I tighten the retaining bolt and then the guide didn't freely move back and fourth. So I looked at the old one compared to the new one and the old one has a bevel edge going into the bolt hole on the side that faces the front cover. Also its slightly beveled down thickness wise so I beveled the hole with a drill bit spinning it with my hand and also filed the guide down slightly on that one side. Very minor alteration only took a few mins then the guide moved freely back and fourth. Its up too you if you want to get a different set or keep that one and slightly modify it. The kit worked great for me. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the info. I would have been ****ed off when I got to that part if I didn't know about it. I don't have a problem with some alterations. I am used to that when I work on older houses. I will let you know if I need some help. Thanks a lot again. Getting info. From you makes me feel a lot more comfortable about doing this. It has been a while since I dug into a motor. Take it easy. I am sure I will talking to you soon. Later.

I have another tip for you get some permatex ultra grey silicone to reseal the front cover. Also make sure you put a bead of silicone across both sides where the front cover meets the head and the cam cover gasket seal against it. Also put the silicone on the pan no silicone on the bottom of the front cover where the oil passages are.
