Pecking sound when driving

I have a 1998 plymoth neon when I drive it sounds like pecking and I have checked oil and its fine. When I stop it pecks. When I let it sit after I drive it. It leaks water. Could this be the water pump

You need to check your oil pressure. The pressure usually goes down at idle. If you have a coolant leak, find the leak.
