I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS with 167,000 miles. My check engine light came on a few weeks ago, so I took it to a repair shop to do a diagnostic test. I was given a code P1811 from the mechanic and was told that I needed to take it to a transmission shop for further testing.I went to a few transmission shops and was told by both mechanics that the transmission was going bad and that it needed rebuilt and that it is going to cost me $1300 for the repairs to complete this.

This car is in good shape other than this issue, just wanted to know if I should have this repaired or just get rid of it?

Do you
have the same problem?

Can you replace the car for that amount? Is the rest of it in good shape? This is a personal decision. If you are ready to spend 15-20k for a car then go for it.
