Oil way tooo much

My nissan max. 98 164,000 miles my oil stick shows oil all the way up the stick to the top. Is engine making oil. Its time for oil change and I have already made a trade with the dealer just have to take car to him. He is 30 miles away. Is it safe to drive that far. Should I change the oil. What is wrong, its not smoking or leaking. Help

Are you sure it's that full? Is the stick flat? Does it read the same on both sides? Do you check it when the engine (off) has not been running for at least a couple hours?

I ran engine for about 3 min. Flat ground flat stick. And when pulled stick out it was blk oil all the way up stick to the top. Did it several times. Oil covered whole dip stick. No engine lights on. Doenst smoke. And has not left any oil stains under car on ground. Maybe seal is letting oil back in from engine

Again. Have already made a deal with car dealer for trade in. Would it be safe to drive 30 miles interstate and not harm motor. Dont want to put any money in car since deal I s done.

You could take drain plug loose and see if anything else besides oil comes out of pan? Your saying you wish to leave on trip NOW? So how long do you think car was like this before you LOOKED? Since it makes no sense, just go and forget about it?
