i have pajero model 1998 3.5 liters and i want to know if i can replace the engine with pajero GDI

You can but it is not a matter of replacing the engine alone. Wiring harness and Egine Control Module has to be replaced. Even the automatic transmission wiring system and control unit might need to be replaced.
