My 1998 jag is low in oil and had a hot smell inside vehicle today oil is over due to be changed but only about a month their was heat coming up from hood why is my oil low

When was the last time if ever you checked it? It should be checked at least once a week. You may have a valve seal problem pcv problem and how much oi is it using? I fyou haven't checked it then all you know is it's low and not how fast you are using it
