I have a 1998 Honda accord with the check engine light on and the computer code said catalyst what does that mean What does it mean when the computer code says catalyst

Usually it's "catalyst efficiency". '96 and newer models have a second oxygen sensor after the catalytic converter to monitor how well it's working. When the computer sees no difference in the readings from the front and rear sensors, it knows no change is taking place within the converter and it sets that code. Most of the time that means a new catalytic converter is needed.
