1998 Ford Explorer won't stay in park

After we park and move the gear shift to the park position the truck still rolls and sometimes we have to start. It in neutral

Something is worn out in the shift linkage. It probably uses a shift cable and the bushings at the end may be worn out. Another thing that happens to the Fords is the linkage in the steering column gets loose or wears out. It will have to be inspected to determine where the slop is.
