Transmission problems

You just drop the pan and the filter is right there but I don't know why you would need to change that. It is simply a screen that doesn't need servicing. If things get bad enough to restrict it, then it's way too late for that trans. The best thing you can do is just due a total fluid replacement using a flush machine.
