Anti- Theft error

98 buick skylark anti-theft error. Starts & runs for a couple seconds. Car has stock passive anti-theft system

Try the relearn procedure, if you haven't already. Try to start vehicle, when it dies leave the key on, if the security lite is on or flashing, wait and see if lite goes out, may take about 10 minutes. When/if lite goes out, cycle key to off for a few seconds, try to start again. The only other thing I could do, is check for diagnostic trouble codes, Then try to find a flow chart for the code.

Insert the key in the ignition and wiggle it back and forth a little, before attempting to turn it to the start position.

You can disable the antitheft check by cutting off one of the 2 thin cables that come out of the ignition key cylinder WHILE THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING and the antitheft light is not on.

You need to remove the steering column covers to gain access to this ignition ey cylinder.

The ANTITEFT light will remain on but the engine will no longer die.

In states that require inspection, Having the security lite on, it may not pass inspection?
