Brake warning light is on

My car brake system light keeps coming on and flashing but its really irregular and doesnt stay on is it safe to drive?

Likely the emergency/park brake switch. These often fail and cause the light to flash [assuming that the brake fluid reservoir is full]. There is also a recall on the brake light switch on these cars, so if the emergency/park brake switch is good let me know and i'll try to track down that recall (the dealer should be able to tell you if your car is included).
