I have a 1997 toyota landcruiser that is leaking oil from the power steering chain. how detrimental is it that i fix this right away? the shop said it would take them between 12 and 16 hours to fix (which will cost me a ton!) although the part it needs is only 60 dollars. should i go ahead or just keep adding oil?

If the leak is not too bad, you can still continue to use it with topping up of fluids regularly. However the problem is not going to improve and can only deteriorate further so it is a matter of time before repair becomes inevitabvle.

Which part is leaking? Is it the steering gear box?
