Overheating

I have a 1997 Toyota Corolla that is overheating and blowing debris through the ventilation system after about 15 mins of running. My wife also complained of a fishy smell. Is this a thermostat issue?

It could be a bad thermostat. However, the smell has me questioning if the heater core is leaking too. I would start with the thermostat. When it is out, flush the engine block, radiator and heater core. Make sure t
