Is replacing a brake light switch on a 1997 Subaru Impreza Brighton Coupe 2.2 a difficult or easy job? I'd like to know if I may be able to do this job, maybe with a little help from my son.
Thanks, Carolyn

Replacing the switch should be an easy job but care must be taken during installation to ensure proper adjustment of the switch.

Unplug the brake switch wire connector.
Loosen the lock nut for the brake switch.
Back off switch by turning it anti-clockwise until it comes off.

To install, turn brake switch in and note that when the brake switch pin is fully depressed by the stopper on the brake pedal, stop and back off by 1/2 to 3/4 turn and tighten the lock nut. You should have at least 2 mm of pedal travel before the push rod starts moving.
