Car hard to start fuel in exhaust

On a 1997 saturn it cuts out and is hard to start after it has been running for awhile when you turn it off it is hard to start

Do you ever have to hold your gas pedal all the way to the floor to start it and then there is black smoke when it start's?Also any trouble code's?

If you could check for code's that would really help go to a auto part's store and have them scan your car for code's and if you have code's let me know the exact code number's. As far as the starting concern I described that is usually caused by a bad coolant temp sensor. Really common on that car also inspect the connector going to it if it's corroded replace the connector.A bad sensor can also cause the car to cut out hard start a lot of different symptoms.I would start by looking at the sensor being bad there only 10. Let me know what you find.
