Ok, I have 1997 Grand Am GT with a 2.4L Twin Cam but the dealership I bought it from put a 2001 2.4L Twin Cam in the car. The question I have to ask is, when they changed the engine in the car they did not change the wire harness over. Are the blocks on the 97 and 01 engine the same? If so would I be able to put a 97 knock sensor on the car seeing as the harness is a 97 harness? I believe this to be the reason the check engine light is on showing the knock sensor. They have a 01 knock sensor in but they have the 2 wires for it spliced together to the 1 wire for the 97 knock sensor. So would I be able to use a 97 knock sensor on the 01 motor as long as the 97 wire harness is still in the car?

I was told today by an auto parts store person that maybe 1 of the wires on the 2001 knock sensor is a ground. Is it possible I could ground 1 wire to the block and hook the other up to the harness? If so what one goes where?
