It has a front end shimmy at 70mph

I just replaced the front tires and i still have the shimmy. could it need an alignment. the old tire wear was even. This car has a new engine that was replaced 3 yrs ago at 112,000 mi.

Have the tires' balance checked with a road force tire balancer. That will show up a bent wheel or tire belt problem. The mechanic will also "read" the tire wear for signs of misalignment. Ball joints, tie rod ends, struts, and lower control arm bushings should also be checked. A loose part can cause a tire to walk off to one side and spring back once the sidewalls can't flex anymore.
