The transmission in your 1997 Olds Bravada doesn't have a control solenoid. It has 2 shift solenoids, a force motor and a lockup solenoid (TCC solenoid). If you are having trouble with a harsh shift from 1st to 2nd gear and have noticed the check engine light on, your first step is to check the fault codes with a scanner. You probably have a code P1870, which is a TCC code. The only fix is to repair or replace the valve body (not something recommended for most home mechanics)

I have 2nd and 3rd. Changed the two solenoids and the tcc solenoid. Sometimes it will shift in all four gears. I dont know if its a bad connection somewhere. Also can't find anything online for the transmission wiring schematics. If anyone can answer this that would be great

It sounds like an seal or clutch failure internally. I would get a trans shop to check it for you to verify.

Most likely the clutches are worn out inside the trans. Get a trans shop to verify

I had the same problem with my truck, I took off the front wheel drive, which made it rear wheel drive. The
tranfer case locked up on it. It runs so much better.

When I drive it 20 miles or more when I stop and go it will start to jerk after 1st gear its not slipping and it will do it till I let off and let it shift in to 4th and give it a second and accelerate and its fine it will down shift fine and not do it but if I don't let off and let it shift it will do it nonstop I think its the torque converter trying to lock up but not sure it is computer controlled all wheel drive I get no codes and the all wheel drive works like it should and runs only when the back tires slip.
If someone has had this happen to them let me know?

Have 98 Bravada. Reverse died 3 summers ago - had to get new transmission. Today had fuel pump replaced. When I picked it up, it did not want to reverse but finally did.
