Transmission problem
2001 Oldsmobile Bravada Automatic 150000 miles

Just changed the sun shell in the transmission. The vehicle drives perfectly forward but will not move when shifted into reverse and you can not push it backwards in neutral. Initially the vss sensor and the propshaft sensor were switched around so I drove it for about a week with no speedometer. I took the oil pan, filter and transmission valve body off to inspect the check balls and then realized the sensor plugs on the transfer case were switched around. I put everything back together and switched the sensor plugs to their correct positions. The vehicle now works properly except for the above conditions. When I put the Bravada in reverse it sounds like it engages it just won't move. Any ideas?

The car won't move when it is shifted into neutral. I had to take the drive shafts off to move the car. What could cause that to happen?

I think the tranny is ok. The car, when on, will not move backwards in reverse, nor can it be pushed backwards while in neutral. I can push it forward in neutral and it drives fine forward. I think it is a problem with the transfer case. When you put the car in reverse the transfer case shaft spins once then locks. Very strange. I don't think there were any problems with the transfer case prior to doing the transmission work, so it seems odd that all of sudden there would be a problem. Any ideas?

I still believe its in the valve body since every thing was going OK before
when engine running gear selector in neutral or reverse valve body channel fluid pressure to move the truck
if the check ball is missing or misplaced you are going to run to that problem
also other possibilities
2-3 shift valve stuck
valve body spacer plate and gasket incorrect, mispositioned or damaged
