I need to replace the door latch striker bushings. No problem loosening the latch pin with a Torx fitting. But, it feels like the threaded fitting inside the door post is awfully loose. Is it attached internally? I do not want to risk it falling down inside the door post when I unthread the pin. I have been told that I may have to remove the internal trim inside in order to hold on to the nut or catch it when the pin is removed.

Is it the striker or the latch you are replacing. If the striker, remove one bolt at a time, pivot the old striker out of the way still with the one bolt attached, attach the new striker in one spot remove the bolt and finish with the new striker. As long as you keep on bolt attached you will be fine

I don't think that I am using the correct terminology. See attached pic. It is the bushing that I want to replace. When I loosen the pin, I cannot tell if the threaded not inside the door post is attached. It feels loose and I do not want it to fall down into the door post.

Ok, I see. I am used to the Gm style with 2 bolts. That one is tough. In theory you should be able to remove the bolt and replace the part you want. If it has loosened of from behind you may have to in behind the panel to hold the nut

Can you please confirm that? I don't want to have to remove the interior trim if not necessary.
Thanks.

Remove the striker and install the new one. The nut cannot fall its made that way so u can adjust the striker if needed. Dont worry
