1997 Mercury Marquis Knocking sound on valve cover

My 97 grand marquis started knocking while driving I flushed the engine and did an oil change the car kept making the knocking noise so I added an aditive to help quiet the noise but didnt help I connected the scanner and its giving me the code p0340 camshaft position sensor circuit bank 1

Other than the knock, is the engine running properly? Can you tell if the knock is coming from low in the engine or another area?

I removed the valve cover and found a lifter had popped out so I replaced the lifters turned the car on but it continues to knock

A tap or tick is usually a lifter. A knock is usually from a rod bearing or main bearing on the crankshaft. Does the sound change when you rev the engine or when it is under a load?

Yea its a ticking noise if I drive the car u can't hear the sound but as soon as I put the car in park or rev it when its in park I can hear the ticking noise

Have you checked oil pressure? Have you checked for other rocker arm issues?

Yes I have oil pressure and the rocker arms are ok I took off the driver side valve cover because that's the side I heard the ticking noise then I turned on the engine and I noticed that there's no oil going to the top of the head
