Car dies

Ihave a 1997 couger xr7 and it just started dieing sometimes when stopping for a traffic light ect. And some times it wont start right away, it takes awhile, the motor turns over but it wont start, but sometimes it starts right up have any ideas? Coils?

Could be coils, but when you said it stalls when you come to a stop or I bet when your going to slow down and turn a corner it may do it too(or try to). It leads me to believe the Idle air control valve faulty or maybe just dirty, I would have a throttle body cleaning done and include the cleaning of the IAC, and its bore, and see how it runs then, this is a common problem, and a throttle body cleaning will usually take care of it, in the event that doesnt work, then you will need to replace the IAC.
