1997 Jeep TJ starting up

When I go to start my jeep it aks like it is going to start. I stop and try it again and then it starts. What could cause this? Thanks

Fuel pressure. Check fuel pump

I have a 1997 Jeep but it has a 4 cyl. It was starting hard I found that their is a fuel filter regulator on top of the gas tank I changed that and it fixed the trouble and it starts right up. Fuel filter regulator is 100.00 dollars.
