1997 jeep grand cherokee will idle for a few seconds and then cut off. Once I finally get it to stay on it runs fine until I have reached highways/interstates. After traveling at a high speed for a little while the car will jerk as in it wants to shut down, when I start slowing down and come to a stop it seems like the engine gets flooded and it dies immediately and takes a while to crank back up and sometimes after cranking back up it will back fire when I try to push the gas; also after has real strong gas smell. Had complete tune up last year, replaced iac, map sensor, fuel pump, distibutor cap, had transmission looked at, and multiple other things.7 different mechanics have taken a look and we have paid them high $$ but with no result. It does have an exhaust leak Someone help me

Scan for codes and check fuel pressure first. Pressure regulator may be bad
