I was going down a dirt road when I hit a mud hole the Jeep cut off right in the middle we drug it to a friends house and found out it was hydro locked we got as much water as we could out there was no water in the oil but we took the spark plugs out and try ed to turn it over it shot water out a few times then made an odd clanking sound I'm thinking it could be a broken connecter rod if so how much is that to get replaced

If you are lucky it just bent a rod not broke it. It may have done more than one prices vary so check locally, but damage must be confirmed first as it may be more than one rod.

That is strictly up to you, you can get a junkyard engine cheaper than fixing a bent/broke rod because you don't know what if anything else is wrong.

Alright I'll buy a new one and fix the old one so I'll have a back up engine if I manage to somehow mess up another inline six

Rebuilds do just a well as new ones and most of time are cheaper. They will charge for a core charge however on a rebuild as you are keeping yours.
