1997 Holden Commodore automatic transmission replacement

Does the part number of the automatic transmission need to be the same number on my tranny is 7DHH. I was told that certain other trnsmissions would also fit.

You will require the 7HDD for the VS series 11 earlier trans do have some changes and you can't back date them, not sure about later trans check with a commodore wrecker if the VT trans will fit but I think the electrics plug is bigger from memory.
