I recently purchased this 4WD Yukon, SLE, 5.7 liter, auto trans vehicle and the dome lights did not work. Most bulbs were burned out and the rest were missing. I replaced them all and all work but, they do not go out even when the "dome override" switch is depressed. Removing the fuse does shut them off.

This circuit is ground triggered rather than hot triggered. So any short to ground will keep it on.

I appreciate the fast response. There is no evidence of any wiring cobbling or signs or compromise to the factory wiring. Can you suggest a vulnerable fault area to begin troubleshooting further? This vehicle does have that dome light feature where even when the dome override is depressed, the dome lights will come on for a timed interval when vihicle is first entered or exited.

Other than the control for that auto feature it is possible that a wire routing got pinched and has finally compromised the insulator. Rare but it does happen.
