Wont start without using a primer (starting fluid)

My truck wont start without using starting fluid, but after its been cranked it'll run like a dream; and will even usually start up a few times afterward on its own; until you let it sit for awhile. Replaced fuel filter, measured pressure (58) indicating good pump pressure. It has the 4.3 liter Vortec V6 any ideas?

Check the coolant temperature sensor, fuel pump relay and fuel pump and oil pressure sending unit-
