Both brake lights arent working when I press the brake pedal. Bulbs are good, fuses are good, cant find the switch under the dash, do I really need to drop the steering column or is there a better way? If I take it to a shop how much should it cost (if answerable)? Thnx

The switch will be to the brake pedal not he column and you shouldn't have to remove the column, remove the clip it slides then come off then remove switch. See pic.

I found the switch but I can bearly see it let alone get to the switch. It is is completely surrouned by a thick metal brace that is attached to the steering column and the under-part of the dash by (6) 1/2" bolts. The only part of the retainer I can see looks like it has a allen tapped sdrew holding it in and it is impossible to get an allen wrench in there. Dont know what to do now. Any suggestions?

The clip has to be pushed in then slid upor down to the large hole then it will come off there is not allen screw that holds it on or anything. Just like the pic shows.
