MY TRUCK HAS A 4

My truck has a 4.6 liter engine, diagnostic test says missfire in cylinder #8. I tested the coil with and ohms meter and it test allright. I smell gas in the exhaust when I start the truck which tells me that the injector is good. This would leave me with the problem being either the plug or plug wire !
Question is ? Can I remove the spark plug boot, leave the old plug in the cylinder and put a new plug in the boot and test for spark?

Yes, good idea.

The coil can still be bad with a good ohm reading.

Is there any coolant in the tube for number 8?
