I have a 97 escort with a bad automatic transmission.

I have been told by auto salvage people that only the tranny from a 97 escort or a 97 mercury tracer will replace my bad tranny.

is this true and why? Escorts list the 4spd F-4EAT tranny from 1990-2003

We only recommend direct fit parts. Make sure the same type of trans is used to replace the OEM one. If it is different, you will end up with sensor problems, module problems.
