Transmission slow to go into reverse on 97 Ford Contour

I have to wait a little before it goes into reverse. Once it's in it seems ok

How long a wait? If you gas it a little does it go in faster?

Yes, if I rev it a bit, it goes into reverse right away

I'll tell you a secret those transmissions are mostly trash. TOO many ford transmissions are trash if you ask me. Buy another brand of car. Do reseaerch on internet before you do.
