1997 Chrysler Town and Country starting

I turn the key to start it and does nothing 1, 2, 3 times, then starts right up no problem. Is it a battery problem or something else? Connection and wires seem good.

By "nothing", do you mean there's no sounds at all? No single, rather loud clunk each time you turn the ignition switch to "crank"? No faint click from the starter relay? What about if you shift to neutral, then try to crank the engine? What happens to the brightness of the head lights or interior lights when you try to crank the engine?
