I have a 97 s-10 pick up with a 4.3 v6. I changed the fuel pump, filter and checked pressure. The motor will start after a bit of turning over. It will idle fine, and rev up fine. But when I try to hold it at a set rpm it will not run rite. After I turn it off and let it set it will start up no problem. But still will not run rite at a set rpm.

Sometimes on all engines some carbon gets up into the throttle body. This can cause the truck to not run right. The carbon can partly clog some of the air or intake holes. Try cleaning from the air cleaner to the throttle body with some cleaner. If it does not help you can do it again. If it still does not help have the truck scanned for any codes. Sometimes even though the check engine light does not come on the scanning will pinpoint the problem.
