Gas tank?

I bought a car from a car lot and it has rusted holes in the gas tank. My car lot guy is charging me 200 to fix it. Is there a cheaper way because every chance he gets hes trying to rip me off. I tried welding it but it didnt work. How much would it cost to buy a bew gas tank, and dont the ones they sell at pickapart have holes in them so they can drain the gas? ( Please help I live in indiana and I drive a 1997 chevy lumina)

You are lucky that you did not kill your self, never try and weld a fuel tank, empty tanks and 1,000 times more dangerous than full tanks, even if filled with water they can blow back, throw the tank and get a new one.
