I have a 1997 Chev Lumina(car) with a 3.1 engine. For quite some time now there has been a loud ticking noise coming from the engine. I thought it was the lifters so I changed them along with the spark plugs and the upstream O2 sensor. When I got done with the repair that same ticking noise is still there and now it is missing on the #5 cylinder. I rechecked the plug and wire going to that cylinder and all appears ok(it was not missing when I started the repair. Any idea what could be making that ticking noise and is there a way to check the fuel injector? Any ideas.
Thank you

You could switch the injector to another cylinder and see if that 1 misses? Did you find anything unusual about the old lifter like cam side wear? Did you check cam for wear?
