My car has the resistor in the ignition key as well as the built in security system.
can I buy an after market remote starter/security system for this car?
is there a special kind I need?
i already have the wiring diagram with color codes and locations of the wires to hook one up.

There is a bypass module you can purchase that will allow the system to work. Ask your provider for the remote.

The system I was looking at has the optional bypass, I wasn't sure what type, I know they have the transponder type and the resistor type.
I was also told that grounding the wire attached to the driver's door lock kills the built in security system all together.
I don't want to take chances unless I am well informed.
I got the car without a key FOB remote.
