1996 Volkswagen Jetta wont always start

We have changed the start
It will take sometimes 15-20 tries to get it to start the light and radio work and it make a clicking like it want to start
but then may a few ours latter it could start right away.

Check your connections. Clean all fittings at the battery, at the starter and at the engine block (remove all cables and clean them).

You may also want to have the battery bench tested at a parts store as well as having the battery load tested.
