Runs ok for a 96 idle is a little rough. No codes. I was checking with a scan tool just to see how things are looking and I noticed even when the coolant temp was normal my car is just staying in open loop. What could be causing that. O2 sensors seems ok based on readings.
Thanks a lot!

How do y ou know it's in open loop? The scanner may not be reading. Check fuel pressure and for vacuum leaks.

When I scrolling through with the scanner I noticed the trim levels were not right. So I checked on to see if the car was running in closed or open loop. The scanner showed it to be open. Are you suggesting that the scanner is not reading the car right?

The only thing that I know of is if the thermostat is bad the car might not get hot enough for it to run in closed. However my car is running fine. It doesnt look like that is an issue. So I am trying to figure out any other causes.

I will check on the vacuums. Anything else?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks I got the issue its my O2 sensors is going bad. I hooked up my car with a better scanner and right away code came up to replace O2 S1 B1 and it showed that it is going into closed loop so I hope this is it. Would you have a diagram where it is?
Thanks

So I went out and bought a new O2 sensor and based on your diagram I tried replacing it. The one I bought had a different connector and had 3 wires the one I have in that spot has 3 wires so I am totally confused. I tried taking a picture of mine but I didnt do to well. Just wondering maybe I am totally off on the placement. I noticed your diagram is from a 2.2 mine is 3.1 dont know if it makes a difference.
Thanks a lot!
