Trying to find out about a drop resistor

I have a 96 nissan maxima and it shift hard into second gear someone told me it can be the drop resistor but I dont no where thats located

I would forget about that and have the trans checked by a shop. There is so much else that needs to be correct before you go in that direction.

It could be throttle pressure, governor or something internal.

Drop resistor is located on side top left strut between airbox

I agree with ASEMASTER6371, get the transmission hard systems checked first, simple line pressure test will show up a lot and a live data read of transmission electrics are the first place you need to go, just changing parts hoping to fix a problem is false economy, you need to get a correct diagnosis first.
