96 Maxima repair

I have a '96 Maxima and have been told (at last oil change) that I have a leaking valve gasket. Can you explain the need for repair and the aproximate costs? The leaking oil has increased to about the size of a dinner plate in 2 months time. 800 miles

V6 engine, gaskets are about $30 each and about 3 hrs to do the full job, oil leas will rot coolant hoses, oil on the exhaust will be a fire hazard, oil on the road it dangerous, and if left unrepaired and you run low on oil, you can destroy the engine.
